NQ Touched the Anchor and Reversed - Read the Close Carefully
What This Morning's Call Put on the Table
The MOJO CODE™ Gunslinger read came out at 8:30 AM ET with four instruments in play. NQ was armed long toward 29,150. ES was armed short toward 7,650. Gold was armed long toward 4,420. Crude was flat at the midpoint, which meant no directional lean and no trade toward an anchor.
The framework was straightforward. Trade toward the anchor. Stay flat in the middle. That is the discipline. That is what BOPE™ is built on.
The Tape Instrument by Instrument
NQ closed at 29,139 with a day high of 29,571.25 and a day low of 29,002. The anchor was 29,150. Price ran through that level intraday, touching 29,571.25 before reversing hard. The close came in at 29,139, which is eleven points below the anchor. The long toward 29,150 reached its target during the session. The anchor paid. The question for every trader who took that setup is where they managed it from there, because the tape gave you the level and then walked it back. The net change on the day was negative 374 points. That is a wide range session. The high-to-low spread was 569.25 points. If you were long toward the anchor and held through the reversal, the day hurt. If you traded toward the anchor and managed the exit near the level, the setup delivered.
ES was armed short toward 7,650 this morning. The close was 7,647.50 with a day high of 7,708 and a day low of 7,621.50. The anchor was 7,650. Price moved toward that level and the close landed within three points of it. The short toward 7,650 reached its target. The anchor paid. That is a clean result against this morning's call.
Gold was armed long toward 4,420. The close was 4,375.70. The day high was 4,510.50. The day low was 4,369.70. The high of 4,510.50 cleared 4,420 by ninety points. The long toward 4,420 reached its target well before the close. The anchor paid. What the close is telling you is that gold gave back the majority of those gains. It opened a long path to the anchor, the anchor paid, and then price faded to close near the low of the session. A net change of negative 20.70 on a day the high was 4,510.50 is a sharp reversal. Traders who chased beyond the anchor got squeezed.
Crude was called flat at the midpoint. No directional lean. The close was 90.68 on a day that had a low of 86.13 and a high of 90.97. The range on crude today was 4.84 dollars. Crude gained 4.92 on the session. That is a significant move. The flat read kept you out of a complex session where the spread was wide and the volatility was real. Staying flat at the midpoint on crude was the right call when the structure did not support a clean directional lean. Sometimes the best call is the one that keeps you out of the noise.
The broader context for the session is worth noting. Treasury Secretary Bessent met with Bank of Japan Governor Ueda and publicly urged decisive monetary steps to address yen weakness, according to Reuters.
Currency policy pressure crossing the wires during an equity and commodity session adds macro-level uncertainty across assets. It is the kind of headline that does not have a clean directional read for futures traders but raises cross-asset volatility risk, and today's tape reflected that across every instrument.
Where the Call Missed
This section matters. NQ reached the anchor intraday and then reversed 432 points off the high to close below the anchor level. The call was long toward 29,150. That worked. But the close at 29,139 with a down 374 day is not a victory lap. The tape reached the level, flipped, and sold off hard. If you held long positions through the session expecting follow-through above the anchor, the tape took that money back. That is not a miss on the call. The anchor was reached. But the session structure punished anyone who overstayed the long side. That is worth naming plainly.
What Tonight's Board Is Arming
The MOJO CODE™ Gunslinger read at 5:45 PM ET has four positions. NQ stays armed long toward 29,150. ES flips from short to long toward 7,650. Gold moves to flat at the midpoint. Crude enters the board armed short toward 90.50.
NQ holding the same armed long anchor after a session that closed below 29,150 means the level still matters. The structure has not changed the directional read. Price needs to reclaim 29,150 and hold it for that armed long to gain traction heading into tomorrow's open.
ES flipping to armed long toward 7,650 after closing at 7,647.50 is the adjustment the tape required. The close effectively landed at the anchor. The new read leans long from here. For that to matter, ES needs to hold above 7,621.50, the session low, and build toward 7,650 with follow-through.
Gold going flat at the midpoint after today's reversal off 4,510.50 is the read the tape earned. No lean. Stay out of the middle.
Crude armed short toward 90.50 after closing at 90.68 sets a tight range to watch overnight. The session high was 90.97. The anchor is 90.50, which is below the close. For the short to engage, crude needs to pull back from the close and confirm movement toward the anchor. The 86.13 low from today shows what the range looks like when crude gets moving.
Trade toward the anchor. Flat in the middle.
