NQ Settled at the Anchor While ES and GC Left Work Undone

The Morning Setup in Plain English

At 8:30 this morning MOJO CODE™ put out a Gunslinger read across all four instruments. NQ was armed short toward 29,450. ES was armed short toward 7,700. Gold was armed long toward 4,510. Crude was armed short toward 86.00. The instruction was the same as always: trade toward the anchor, flat in the middle. Tonight you find out whether the tape cooperated.

Instrument by Instrument — What Actually Happened

NQ closed at 29,521 with a day high of 29,546.25 and a day low of 29,273.50, a net change of plus 29.25 points. The morning call had NQ armed short toward 29,450. Price pushed down to 29,273.50 intraday, which means the tape traded well through the 29,450 anchor before reversing. If you were positioned short and trading toward that level, the anchor paid. The day low landed roughly 177 points below the target, giving you room to work. NQ then clawed back to close above the anchor at 29,521. That close tells you the bears did not hold control past the session low. Price found the level and bounced. Call it a clean delivery on the downside anchor.

ES is a different story. The morning call had ES armed short toward 7,700. The day low was 7,674.75, which means price did trade below the anchor level. On the surface that looks like delivery. But the close came in at 7,701.25, just a quarter point above the anchor, and the day high hit 7,724. The tape chopped across 7,700 and did not commit cleanly in either direction until late in the session. If you were watching for a trending move toward 7,700 from the top of the range, the path was uneven. News flow around the US-Iran flare-up hit the indexes during the session and created intraday noise that complicated clean entries.

Stocktwits covered the session-wide pressure on the S&P 500 and the Dow, noting the geopolitical overhang alongside the Dow's fifth consecutive month of gains.

GC closed at 4,497.30 with a day high of 4,521.50 and a day low of 4,445.60, a net change of negative 32.60. The morning call had gold armed long toward 4,510. The day high reached 4,521.50, which means price did trade through the anchor on the upside before reversing hard. If you were long and targeting 4,510, price gave you that number. But gold then collapsed 75.90 points off the high to close at 4,497.30. The anchor paid intraday but the session closed well off the target and well below the high. That is not a clean outcome. You had to be present and managing the trade actively. Anyone who held expecting follow-through got stopped out or gave back significant ground. The morning call was directionally correct and the anchor was touched, but gold's behavior after the high was punishing. Call it a partial delivery with a brutal reversal.

CL is tonight's plainest miss on the morning call. The call had crude armed short toward 86.00. CL closed at 86.31 with a day high of 86.79 and a day low of 84.11. Price opened with a move toward 84.11 on the downside — that is nearly two dollars below the 86.00 short anchor. But crude then ripped more than two dollars and eighty cents off the low to close at 86.31, up 2.91 on the session. The short setup toward 86.00 was immediately below where price spent most of the afternoon. The tape faked low, reversed, and closed above the anchor. If you were short, you got squeezed. That is a miss. The Canadian dollar story out of Investing.com tied crude's strength to the CAD rebound and the broader oil rally on the day.

The Overnight Board and What Has to Happen

Tonight's MOJO CODE™ read adjusts the map. NQ is now flat at the midpoint, which means the system is not armed in either direction. You wait. ES stays armed short toward 7,700. That level is essentially where price closed today. For the short anchor to matter tonight, ES needs to lift off that close and give you a push toward the top of the range so there is actually room to trade back down. A flat open right at 7,700 is not an entry. You need space. GC shifts the target fractionally to 4,500 from 4,510 this morning. Gold closed at 4,497.30 today. Again, the anchor is nearly at the close. You need a bounce above the level to create the setup. CL flips entirely — armed long toward 86.50 tonight after the morning called it short toward 86.00. Crude closed at 86.31. The long anchor is 19 cents above the close. The tape has to stay above recent lows and press higher for that anchor to come into play.

What the Scorecard Says

Two anchors paid in some form today. NQ delivered a clean move to the downside target. GC reached the number intraday but reversed sharply, making it a managed-trade outcome at best. ES straddled the anchor and offered choppy execution rather than a clean trend. CL was a straight miss — the tape reversed against the morning's armed direction and never looked back. Tonight the board is armed again and the BOPE™ framework is reset. Nothing from today carries forward except your discipline.
